While the protocols below are as accurate as per the last date recorded, the situation is constantly changing with regards to Covid-19 protocols for yacht arrivals and skippers should always check with their intended port of arrival before getting underway to be 100% certain of what is required.

Yachting Protocols:
September 2022
- While other French overseas territories have now lifted all Covid-19 restrictions, the authorities of the territory of Wallis and Futuna have decided to be cautious.
- Maritime borders are now open.
- All foreign arrivals must be fully vaccinated in order to enter the country.
- Send boat papers, passports, crew list and proof of vaccination status to the following e-mail address prior to arrival: elizabeth.barka-lamour@wallis-et-futuna.pref.gouv.fr
- You will not get an answer.
- Once you have entered Wallis atoll, hail Port Control Mata Utu on VHF Ch. 16. See Clearance for further details.

History:
- 4 March, 2020, a cruise ship was turned away for fear of infection.
- 24 March maritime access was prohibited except for select container ship traffic. Flights into the country were reduced to one flight every 10 days to/from New Caledonia.
- September 2022, maritime borders re-opened to vaccinated crew.

2016/08 Wallis Radio only monitor 16 now, Michel Soula is no longer there. Navionic chart plotter was very accurate and the tide and current charts are spot on. The small boat customs is right on the docks now, you don’t have to walk the 1 1/2 km to get to them, although the police do indicate that you have to walk up there YOU DO NOT, that is a customs office but is for importing goods. The anchoring information remains correct.
2015/05 : Wallis Radio is effective on Chanel 09 in the south and Channel 22 in the east part of the lagon. Michel Soûla will give you indications on the best places to anchor according to the weather. Mata Utu, Gahi, Halalo, or West of Faioa. Michel is watching on the motor boats which are going outside the lagon for fishing and hé has an AIS to follow you and help you If necessary.
