Knitted so that the fabric itself does not deteriorate in the constant movement that marine flags are usually exposed to, and polyester so that the flag does not weaken in the strong UV-light usually found in the main sailing areas of the world.

As of September 2019 the large roll on/roll off cargo ship Golden Ray remains capsized directly off the main shipping channel entering St. Simon’s Sound. There is a restricted area around the vessel as salvage operations are underway, but navigation for recreational boats is not affected at this time. Check the St. Simons Sound Response web site for current information before entering the channel.

Pay attention to the tidal stream (current in US-speak) when entering the river from the open sea. The passage up to Brunswick landings is very straightforward and well marked. The marina offers very good facilities and there is a very active live aboard community based there. There are free bicycles to explore the town, which is pretty but rather quiet.
