Crinan Canal - Docking
Boats transiting this canal can be subject to safety checks on gas, fuel and electrical installations. Third party insurance of 1 million pounds sterling is required. With a normal crew of 3 or 4, the journey can be completed in about 6 hours, if necessary, but with its wonderful scenery, it is worth lingering a little longer.
It is open seven days per week in peak season and Monday to Friday during the winter.
Usual Lock Opening Hours:-
Spring
All Locks – 08:30 to 16:30 hours, Monday to Friday (Lunch Break – 30 minutes)
Summer Sea Locks, Lock 14 and Crinan Bridge 0600 to 2000, Monday to Sunday
Inland locks -08:30 – 19:30 pm, Monday to Sunday (Please note a meal break will be taken between 17:30 and 1800)
Autumn All Locks – 08:30 to 16:30, Monday to Saturday (Lunch Break – 30 minutes)
Winter All Locks – 08:30 to 15:30 pm, Monday to Friday (Lunch Break – 30 minutes)
For all seasons please note the last locking will commence 30 minutes prior to close.
