Finisterre - Activities, Attractions & Shopping

It’s worth the walk up to the old lighthouse, just to get that feeling of being at the “end of the earth” (even though Finisterre is actually not the westernmost point of the Iberian peninsula). The lighthouse was built in 1853 and its siren is known as “vaca de Finisterre” – Finisterre cow – due to its two prolonged low pitch blasts.
The pretty church of Nosa Senora das Areas is where, during the Easter festivities, the passion is re-enacted incorporating the ancient cult of the sun.
