Immigration Procedure:

Passports should have a validity of at least six months.

Visas are required by all nationals except those of the Gulf States.

If arriving by yacht, a 10-day short visit visa will be issued on arrival by Immigration for nationals of European, Scandinavian and South American countries, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and United States.

Visa Information:

Without a visa, you will not be allowed to go inland from the port.

Visa applications can now be made online here.

Israeli passport holders and those with evidence of travel to Israel in
their passports (i.e., stamp or visa from Israel in their passport),
will be denied entry.

Visitors may apply for a visa extension through the Royal Oman Police website. Penalties may apply if you overstay your visa.

See the Royal Oman Police website for the latest information.

The loss or theft of a passport can result in considerable difficulties because Omani law requires the traveller to report the loss or theft to the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and try to recover the passport by placing an advertisement in local newspapers.

Just want to note on UAE you mention that the Gulf of Oman and sailing area from Muscat Oman, around the beautiful Musandam Peninsular and into the Arabian Gulf, are quite safe which they are, and I thought it should be mentioned here on the Oman page as well.

I have visited Salalah in March 2014. Great surprise – you need an agent to come inside the port. It cost 200-300 USD. You need to have 3rd party liability insurance, if not – you’ll be fined (130USD). Port fees were about 200 USD (including water).

You can fill diesel, an agent will help you to agree with BP office. Staying alongside near Port control tower. There is a shop for provisioning inside the port with free delivery onboard. So, very expensive country, if you have enough diesel and water, go directly to much more friendly Aden.
