Approaches

Opening 50m wide and 4m deep dredged between Smaskjaera and mainland. Position 59°39.84’N, 010°36.15’E. The passage is marked by R and G beacons with lights. There is a new dredged small boat channel on the west side of the fairway.

Berthing

There is a very large number of marinas and boat clubs offering berths to visiting boats. These range from harbours in the centre of the city to quiet places on the islands in the fjord. New ones are being created or enlarged all the time.

Herbern Marina is the closest to the centre of the city, while those on the eastern side of the Bygdoy peninsula, in Frognerkien, are not too far away. Quieter, yet still convenient for the city, are the two marinas on the island of Hovedoya.

Further to the west, but still offering easy access to the city, is the marina/boatyard of Holmen Yachtvaerft at Nesbukta in Hestesund.
