Description:

Gili Gedi island is located off the southern end of the west coast of Lombok. (Not to be confused with the Gili Islands off the NW coast). It is in a sheltered bay close to the coastal town of Tembowong, approx. 15NM west of the harbour town of Lembar.  It is one of several islands clustered together, very sheltered and surrounded by hills. There are no motorized vehicles on the island, so to move around you take the coastal path, a horse-drawn cart or a taxi boat.

Marina Del Ray,  at the southern end of the island, now has pontoons and other services available and is now a Port of Entry for Indonesia.  Advance arrival notice is requested.  There are bars and restaurants on the island and some provisions.

Cruiser highlights:

This is now a 24 hour international clearance port with a marina which is continually improving services for visiting yachts.  Amenities include a swimming pool, WiFi, repair facilities.

Update on Lombok, Indonesia by Yannick, s.v. TY-YANN

Close to the southwest shore of Lombok, Marina Del Ray and Secret Island Resort in Gili Gede island have moorings in a very protected bay as long as you stay out of the main current stream.

A pier dock has been completed (March 2018) in Marina Del Ray and berthing is scheduled for June 2018 as well as a yacht club. Gili Gede is remote, there is no tap water and food provisioning is a bit complicated but is a valuable choice to leave the boat unattended in the water all year long.

Have been exploring the marinas in Lombok and Bali to sus out the best place to leave our boat. Marina Del Ray.. doesn’t quite match up to what it states. 2 boats on buoys and 3 vacant. No marina, no restaurant, no haulout, no power out to a swing mooring.Just a beach and a fairly old resort close by.

According to the locals, it’s still on the plan. If wanting to leave a boat, or a place to stop in Lombok the only option .. marina.. is Medana Marina 4 miles from Gili Air with a number of buoys, a resort, restaurant, a clubroom and friendly people with fuel available.
