Harbour:

The Harbour has ‘used but good’ laid moorings, sufficient depths off the quayside and a variety of small bollards and mooring rings, the latter mounted in the quay face. There is space for approx. 20 boats within the harbour, but many spaces are occupied.  The eastern harbour wall gives scope for 3 or 4 boats to tie up alongside.

There are some water taps on the quayside in the Harbour but no other services. Shelter seems adequate.

The Harbour
Town Quay:
The Town Quay is extensive and likely a charter destination. There are no laid moorings so you need your own anchor.  The mooring rings are all small and mounted on the quay face, perhaps making mooring unaided challenging.
The Town Quay

There are no facilities on the town quay and it is more exposed to the prevailing winds.

Anchoring:

There are sheltered anchorages nearby.

Anchorage on the east side of Nisis Koukounitsa – this is a large anchorage with depths in the middle of the bay at 6-8 metres, reducing to 3 metres closer to shore. It provides shelter from all points except north. However, holding is patchy and it can take a few attempts to get the anchor to set in mud. Once dug in then holding is OK. Holding may be better closer to Nisis Koukounitsa itself.

Dinghy Docks:

Dinghy can go ashore at the landward end of the causeway linking the island, and it is a short walk into Vonitsa Town, dinghy round the island to the town quay. Plenty of cafes and restaurants, and a fine castle.

Ashore:

The quayside has an array of bars and tavernas and there are supermarkets and a hardware store – which supplies propane gas – in the main street.
