Estonia - Health
Emergency care and ambulance services are provided to everyone in Estonia free of charge, including foreign nationals and people without health insurance.
All visitors must have valid health insurance while in Estonia.
Residents of Europe should obtain a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before leaving their home country. The EHIC is not a substitute for medical and travel insurance, but it entitles EU citizens to state-provided medical treatment on the same terms as Estonian nationals.
Food and Water Concerns:
Tap water is safe to drink all across the country.
Vaccine-Preventable Diseases:
Make sure you are up-to-date on all routine vaccines.
Everyone 5 years of age and older should get fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before travel.
CDC recommends vaccinations for Hepatitis A & B, Measles and Rabies.
Other Disease Concerns:
Tick-borne diseases (Tick-Borne Encephalitis (TBE) and Lyme Borreliosis):
The number of reported cases has been increasing in Estonia, particularly on the islands. There is no vaccine against the Lyme disease. Always check for ticks.
Prescription Drugs:
Antibiotics or specific medicine is sold with prescription only. General medicine is prescription free.
Emergency number:
112 (all emergencies)
