Split - Docking

This is a busy harbor, but easy to enter in all conditions.

Anchoring:

Anchoring is now forbidden in this harbor, and yachts that do so face substantial fines and their boat papers being confiscated until payment is made.

The closest anchorage is on the North side of the peninusula in Kaštel Bay.

Town Docks:

The west side of the harbor has a newly developed wall that visiting yachts can use – at a price (100 euros for a 14 meter boat). There are no other public docks in Split harbor anymore.

Marinas:

The large, sheltered ACI marina in the SW of the harbor is a popular choice, but that means arriving early afternoon and avoiding Friday and Saturdays during the summer to ensure getting a berth. Prices are similar to that of the town dock quoted above.

Various clubs also have berths here although prior arrangements might be advisable.

A quieter marina mooring may be found at the PSD Zenta marina. Another alternative is the luxurious Lav marina 3 miles east of Split.

The harbor is exposed to the S and SW and the constant movements of vessels cause a surge, although the marina is protected from most of this.

Same story for SV POMME, needed quick main sail repairs in Split this week. I called UK Sail Tel: +385 21 386 792 and Vatro was understanding, responsive and catered to my needs at a reasonable price.

In Split we needed some minor sail repair. I wonder whether Noonsite might mention Halsey UK. This is a small loft which did fast and professional work at a very reasonable price. The manager, Davos, is friendly and obliging. They’re at Spinut Marina.
