Entrance:

Access from the sea is easy, and the marina is reported to be well protected in most conditions although the wind is often abeam when manoeuvring into the tight berths.

A line of yellow buoys to port as you enter mark a shallow area with rocks best avoided, particularly at low tides. Wait to be directed to a free berth if one is not visible and the reception pontoon is full.

Anchoring:
There is an attractive anchorage in a bay about 8NM NE of the marina. It lies close to the town of El Poris de Abona. There is an anchorage off the beach (in the sand in 4-6m) on the northern side of the bay. Be careful of swimmers and old mooring buoys close to the wall. There are two walls with ladders and stairs where it is possible to leave the dinghy. Bars and restaurants in town.

Photo of the northern side of the bay at Abona from Thibault Goncalves.

The southern side of the bay lies close to the lighthouse of Abona. Here, it is possible to anchor between the southern mole and the small cliff in front of the beach in 3 to 5 meters over sand. There are a lot of rocks east and close to the southern mole. Due to wind shifts, anchoring fore and aft is helpful. It is an attractive anchorage, that offers good protection. It is not advisable to enter the bay by night.

This marina is very unattractive with little to offer locally. Poorly maintained facilities and expensive. If you are slightly over the 12m mark you pay the same as a 14m yacht – €31 per night with dirty toilets, some locked, dirty dusty surroundings and a cavalier “take it or leave it” attitude of the proprietor. We will not be returning in a hurry!

Nice marina, but expensive ATM. We took out E200 and got charged E27 extra!

I spent a few nights in San Miguel de Tenerife in January and February
2017. The noise from the nearby airport is low, nothing much to worry about. I paid 16.10 for one night. The marina is well protected. The
marineros are nice, professional, speak English and are on-site 24/7
    (and they answer the radio).

Facilities are adequate, showers and toilets are clean and tidy. Too bad there is nothing to see around but a
big resort. Also, be careful with the tourist submarine as it moves very slowly.

Very nice and friendly staff. Good paid WIFI in the marina. The marina is to our meaning a little bit isolated and there is no real village nearby. Then you have to go by bus that stops about a 10min. walk away from the harbour. There are some minimarkets between the hotels and apartments at walking distance. It is close to the airport (and the bus goes there) so it is easy to get a rental car from there.

A new sail loft has opened in San Miguel Marina run by the multi-linguistic Thomas Studer. Thomas tells us he has the largest sewing machine in the Canaries. This is important as we were unable to get our jib sail repaired in Lanzarote for this same reason. Thomas did an excellent job on our sail.

He also works with canvas and repaired our canopy, our gangplank cover as well.
Thomas used to be a keen racer and was able to advise and arrange a super rig for our downwind pole.

We berthed ‘Timeless’ at San Miguel Marina for several weeks. We would like to confirm that the marina staff have extremely helpful and caring for all the boats.
    Nothing was too much trouble.

We needed our bow cleats tightened – they were done within 48 hours!
We needed a Wifi signal 24/7 – it was arranged within 24 hours!
There can be a swell within the marina when the wind blows from the south. The marina staff helped us move to a less prone berth.

The wind blew up to 35 knots – the marina staff came around all the boats and adding extra lines to ensure all the boats would be safe.
    ..an excellent team.
