Whilst the procedures suggested by S/Y Truant 2 are no doubt possible, anyone following them should be aware that they are illegal. The autographo information is very sound, but one is not permitted to call at more than one island without one. The idea of paying Port Captains at Isabella and Santa Maria is merely encouraging corruption, albeit mildly – and I have no intention to preach. However, innocent yachtsmen should know what they are getting into.
As for Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz, yes it does get overcrowded, but it has the best facilities, I find the officials and agents charming and helpful, and the costs are comparable as long as ones Zarpe (last Port Clearance Certificate) quotes an accurate gross tonnage, on which charges are based.
I am a manager with Blue Water Rallies, currently on my 8th week, and 3rd visit to Galapagos.
