Kusadasi: Experiences when over-wintering
Comments on facilities and services while staying at Kusadasi marina.

MV LeeZe wintered over there 2013-14. There is a new shopping centre south of the marina and as such, the marina has pushed out all restaurants except Be-Bops.
They are putting in paid parking and started to charge 40-45 euro cents for each KW of electricity used, 5 euros for each 1000 l of fresh water used. The fresh water has sediment in it as the marina does not use city water but buys its water from a water tanker company who gets the water from its own artesian well. (Personally verified!) So, a good 1-5 micron filter is needed to prevent the sediment from getting into your water tanks.
The local chandlery located just outside the main gate has seen its reputation by long-term marina residents drop. There is a small industrial area (aka Sanayi) outside of town toward the South that many uses to get small to large jobs done, including stainless steel welding and fabrication.
There is a chandlery in that area called “oto Ankara” that I used throughout the winter and it was head and shoulders above the one outside the main gate.
Lastly, Izmir is a two+ hour drive away toward the North, and their two industrial areas that are most useful to boaters is the “Yeni Sehir” and the “Ikinci” areas, located just east of the government’s major hospital complex located just east of the Intra-city train station.
