Agios Dimitrious, on the west coast is a nice anchorage for to stop over.
Good shelter off the beach in 4 to 10 meters, find a sandy spot among the weed and the holding is good.
Small mini market ashore if needed.
May not be tenable in strong S or W winds.
We spent a day and night there on passage from Poros to Paros and it was very comfortable with no swell.

May 2018. All services available of the town quay from the Harbour Master who will probably run up and down the quay with a whistle to indicate where you should moor.

Electricity and water are very, very expensive. 6 euros per day mooring for a cat, 17 euros per day electricity and water (apparently cats use more water than monos) Meltemi will blow consistently from the north so you need as much anchor cable as you can put out and strong lines.

It can be uncomfortable when the Meltemi is in full swing as there is a considerable slop washed into the bay. Ferries still use the inner ferry berth but cause little wash problems.

Bigger issues with charterers boat handling and anchoring ‘skills’, some quite lamentable. Real problem with crossed cables and dredged anchors.

You can anchor on the west side of the bar but there are laid mooring south of the inner fishing boat quay. Pleasant town with plenty of tavernas, minimarkets, bakeries etc.

Ormos Ay Dimitriou, 37°19.0’N, 24°22.4’E, provides a lovely quiet anchorage with shelter from the Meltemi. Caution: our chart plotter marked the anchorage much closer to Ak Ay Dimitriou.
