Description:

La Rochelle is a beautiful Medieval City with an imposing fortified old harbor dating back to the Middle Ages. Due to the high tides on this coast, the old harbor has lock gates, the confinement, however, is worth it as the old harbor is right in the heart of the City. Cruisers may find it easier to use La Rochelle as a base from which to visit other ports and towns nearby by hire car.

Arriving on 14 of July in La Rochelle was a nice experience, the gates to the Bassin de Chalutiers opened as said on VHF. Friendly staff to take lines. Shops, cafes and restaurant and important chandlers onsite around the harbour. Reasonable prices.
