There are many factors to consider when preparing to sail offshore and due to the climate crisis the majority are rapidly changing in various parts of the world already. From weather, to global circulation, to sea level, navigation and the economics of long-distance cruising – all makes for thoughtful conversation and more strategic planning.

Rick Ellis has written a two-part document outlining all these factors for the Bluewater Cruising Association, which were published in their online magazine Currents in August/September 2022.
