Boat Inspection Advice for Cruisers, Before Going Near or Offshore
This free-to-all SSCA webinar is the first in their Best Practices series for 2022 and will focus on how to do a boat safety check on your vessel, with Peter S. Burch, a well known Marine Engineer, as the key speaker.
Peter inspects offshore vessels for various rally events, such as the Atlantic Rally For Cruisers (ARC). This webinar will focus on why and when to do a vessel inspection, expertise required and some items to consider for any near or offshore boat.
Who will find this webinar of interest?
If you are preparing for an offshore experience, are a skipper, captain, or possible crew who want to learn about key issues that may arise on voyages with their vessels. A boat inspection, performed by experienced mariners and then followed by the captain’s corrective issues, can make a real difference for any voyage! This is not a formal survey (it’s assumed the vessel has a current survey and insurance), but allows captain and/or crew to review with an expert the aspects they should consider for passages. However, an adequate boat inspection should identify potential problems which can be corrected by the captain/owners before passages. Items such as rigging features, safety items, offshore preparations and more should be considered.
The webinar will be live-streamed on the SSCA YouTube Channel and available for later viewing by registrants.
