Reported by Maria Wadsworth:
Oeiras Marina – August 2017
The harbour entrance is quite narrow. We came in and had telephoned the day before as we thought we may be able to go directly to a berth.
We were told just to come to the welcome pontoon (also the fuel pontoon) and they would allocate us a berth. The currents are fierce here so beware. There was no room on the welcome pontoon and we had to motor back outside the marina.
Suggest you call on channel 9 before approach and request a berth to be allocated before you get into the marina, as some berths are quite tight and there’s not much manoeuvring room. Good recycling, friendly staff who speak good English (20% CA discount too!).
We didn’t see any transport to the train station or the supermarket, the supermarket was a 10-minute walk, the train station 20 minutes. We used Uber for a trip back from the train station.
We spent some nights here in Sep 2014. Good service, swimming pool is included, but also transport to the nearest supermarket and train station is offered. We had high waves and more than 4 knots of current.
On northern route from Cascais to Oeiras (Barra do Norte), we had breaking waves due to the swell and tide (there was almost no wind). The Marina staff told us that swell from the south in combination with the ebb current the entrance becomes rough.
Spent there two nights 08/2014. Very pleasant and reasonable priced marina (€45 for 14m). Laundry is very cheap (€ 1.50) and they deliver fresh bread at your boat each morning for free.
Use of the adjacent swimming pool seems to be included as well, though we didn’t try it out.
The Cafe Sport at the marina estuary (some descendant from the one in Horta ?) serves the best fish soup we ever had.
