SVG, Young Island: Boardings and Thefts on Multiple Boats – August 2020

Overnight 5 yachts on moorings in Young Island Cut were boarded.
Thieves stole cash, phones, electronics and other items from 4 of the the yachts.
The 5th yacht was locked, and the owners awoke to the noise and found wet footprints in the cockpit.
The police were notified and took forensics from 1 of the yachts.
The police/coastguard have increased daytime and night time patrols in the anchorage.

DETAILS: Overnight while owners slept on board a thief boarded their moored yacht and attempted to enter the locked yacht around 2AM, leaving behind wet footprints and a greasy set of fingerprints. Reports were made to the police, coast guard and the tourism office.
